FULL-TIME: Derby County 1-3 Manchester United
Martial has been named Man of the Match for tonight’s match and it’s no surprise. The young Frenchman has been magnificent.
90 mins: There will be an added minimum of three minutes to be played.
84 mins: And that proves to be Mata’s last contribution of the match as he is replaced by his Spanish compatriot Ander Herrera.
83 mins: GOAL! Derby County 1-3 MANCHESTER UNITED – Juan Mata
Is this the goal that has killed off Derby’s hopes? Martial torments Christie once more with a sublime stepover that leaves the right back trailing in his wake. United’s No 9 then cuts the ball back to their No 8, Mata, who sweeps the ball past Carson into the far bottom corner from close range.
STAT: Martial has provided two assists in a single game for United for the first time.
76 mins: The hosts make their two finals changes as goalscorer Thorne and Bradley Johnson make way for Johnny Russell and Jeff Hendrick.
74 mins: Michael Carrick comes on for Morgan Schneiderlin in the heart of United’s midfield.
65 mins: GOAL! Derby County 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED – Daley Blind
The game has been very open the last 10 minutes and now we have our third goal of the match as the visitors regain the lead. Blind runs with the ball from the heart of their defence and continues his run as United’s build-up continues. The ball finds its way to Lingard out on the right-hand side. His low cross is met by the onrushing Blind who steers it into the bottom corner of the net with his left foot. A fine finish.
59 mins: The hosts make their first change as Blackman is replaced by Abdoul Camara
58 mins: Both sides have just wasted great chances to go 2-1 ahead. First Derby go on the attack with a surging run by midfielder Jacob Butterfield who is dispossessed by Daley Blind at the last second. United go on the counter-attack from that but Jesse Lingard’s deflected cross is headed just wide by Juan Mata.
54 mins: Derby captain Warnock goes into referee Anthony Taylor’s notebook for a foul on Varela.
52 mins: Already Derby are showing more intent this half than they did in the first half. They’re stretching the pitch with their pace out wide and it’s through this method that they come close to taking the lead. A great cross from right back Cyrus Christie almost finds Tom Ince – but the delivery just flies inches past his outstretched foot.
Manchester United get the second half underway then. Will there be a winner in the final 45 minutes?
HALF-TIME: Derby County 1-1 Manchester United
45 mins: That goal has awoken the hosts though as they come close to taking the lead. First a fantastic tackle by Chris Smalling denies Chris Martin before Nick Blackman shoots just wide of De Gea’s post from long-range a couple of moments later.
40 mins: Martial is causing too many problems for the Derby defence. This time he skips past Richard Keogh and plays a low cross towards Rooney. The latter looks certain to double his tally this evening but Rams skipper Stephen Warnock makes a great last-ditch clearance.
37 mins: GOAL! DERBY COUNTY 1-1 Manchester United – George Thorne
United have been looking so comfortable all match but are now back on level terms courtesy of George Thorne’s goal. It’s the first time Derby have attacked in numbers and it’s resulted in a goal as the onrushing Thorne bursts in between the United defence to poke past De Gea.
33 mins: Oh United have come so close to doubling their advantage and what a goal that would’ve been. Most of the visitors’ attacking play has come through Martial down their left and it’s the summer signing who nearly scores their second. Running at the heart of the Derby defence he plays a great one-two with Rooney, but his touch is heavy when through one-on-one with Carson.
29 mins: United have had 64% possession so far during this match – and are looking comfortable. The Rams look in awe of them at times.
Rooney has scored in all three of his away games in 2016 – the same number of games he scored in in 22 away fixtures throughout 2015.
Rooney has also scored five goals in his last five away games in the FA Cup.
22 mins: Derby have something to be encouraged about as Nick Blackman rises above Varela to head towards goal. Sadly for the hosts it’s comfortably held by David de Gea.
16 mins: GOAL! Derby County 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED – Wayne Rooney
What a goal from Rooney to give United the lead. The visitors attack patiently down their left-hand side once more. Martial slips the ball into the path of Rooney on the corner of the penalty area. The 30-year-old takes one touch before curling a strike into the far corner of Scott Carson’s goal. There was a hint of offside as Rooney collected the pass but the visitors won’t care.
10 mins: The 5,000+ travelling supporters bellow legendary defender Nemanja Vidic’s name following his retirement earlier today.
9 mins: The iPro is a cauldron of noise from both sets of supporters but the play has been dominated by the visitors so far. They’re keeping possession well but have failed to penetrate the Derby backline.
3 mins: United are knocking the ball about comfortably and should be ahead. Great interchange between Marouane Fellaini, Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial finds the latter with a sight at goal. However, Martial can only curl his shot over the crossbar from inside the penalty area.
Derby County get the game underway. Here we go then.
Both teams are out on the pitch. We’re just moments away from kick-off.
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal on tonight’s match:
‘This is not the toughest period of my managerial career – I’ve always had tough periods at every club. This is not new. What is new is that stories are made up by the media and you can write anything without taking responsibility.
‘It’s hard to enjoy your job at times like this.
‘I hope that my team shall perform like they have trained and show good team spirit. I want to see the confidence of the training session – that’s important so we can win the game.’
Derby manager Paul Clement on tonight’s match:
‘Tonight is about focusing on ourselves. We are coming off the back of couple of disappointing results but our last performance was encouraging.
‘Even though we lost 4-1 against Burnley, we played well in the first half. But we conceded two penalties, an own goal, and the other goal was a deflection.
‘Tonight is a one off game, we’re playing at home in a special competition against one of the world’s biggest clubs and I hope we can send our fans home smiling.’
Pre-match facts

Hello and welcome to TIBS News‘ coverage of tonight’s FA Cup fourth-round clash between Derby County and Manchester United. The former will be hoping to cause a shock in front of their home supporters at the iPro Stadium against a United side that have been indifferent all season. Team news to follow.
Premier League outfit Manchester United travel to Championship side Derby County looking to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The visitors go into the game off the back of last weekend’s 1-0 league defeat by Southampton – a result which heaped more pressure on under-fire boss Louis van Gaal.
Derby will be hoping to add to that on Friday night in front of their home fans at the iPro Stadium. However they are without a win in their last five league games and have lost all six meetings against the Red Devils in the FA Cup – most recently a 4-1 fifth-round defeat in February 2009.
So who will prevail in the east Midlands? Follow all the action with TIBS News. Kick-off is 7.55pm.
