Nacho Monreal has extended his stay at Arsenal after penning a new long-term deal with the Premier League leaders.
The exact length of the left back’s new contract hasn’t been revealed.
The 29-year-old joined the Gunners from La Liga outfit Malaga in January 2013 and has since gone on to make 113 appearances in all competitions for the north London side.
‘I met the boss (Arsene Wenger) three years ago and I have a really good relationship with him and I’m really happy with him. For these reasons I extended my contract,’ Monreal said.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger added: ‘He is a very important player at the club because he can play left-back and centre-back. He has the consistency in his performances that is requested at the top level.’
Monreal has played an integral role in Wenger’s first-team plans this campaign – playing in all 22 league matches as they lead Leicester City on goal difference.
